The medical platoon, also referred to as battalion aid station (BAS), coordinates the Army Health System (AHS) support operations for the battalion commander. The battalion aid station is a forward-most medically staffed treatment location organic to a maneuver battalion. It is uniquely organized, trained, and equipped to conduct medical treatment and evacuation tasks.
